Let’s talk about what we’re not doing for the holidays

I had had this idea of asking you all what you were making this year. But the danger in those kind of discussions is sometimes a comparisonfest can break out. I want to celebrate people doing what works for them rather than feeling like there’s something more they should be doing.

Instead, I’m asking a different question: how are you cutting yourself some slack this holiday season?

  1. We don’t really have a holiday to celebrate (Chanukkah is such a non-event: all you really do is light candles for 8 nights and then you’re done) so this time of year is so low-key for me because everyone else is busy. I read read read and catch up on movies :-)

    1. Mel, that sounds really nice, actually. I had no idea Chanukka was *that* low key. I knew it was less of a big deal than Christmas, but I thought there were usually lots of gifts. And maybe family gathering(s).

Maybe we should switch holidays. ;)

  2. I am building lots of mini-treats into my week (candlelit bubble bath, watching a DVD with my husband, drinking hot chocolate with whipped cream). Happy holidays!
