I was scanning Google Maps, planning for our Italy trip, when something piqued my interest that other people might think of as mundane. I mentioned it to Phillip.
Me: Did you know there’s a grocery store in Vatican City?
Him: We should totally go!
Me: That’s what I was gonna say!

Another day, researching tours for the Doge’s Palace in Venice, I started to tell Phillip about the options…
Me: Okay, this tour costs a little more, but you go through secret passages–
Him: Let’s do it!

I’ve traveled with a lot of people, but Phillip is definitely my favorite.
How lovely! It’s great to have those Great Minds Think Alike moments. I’d be down for a secret passage tour, and for the grocery store in the Vatican…what does that look like? Is the Novena candle section bigger? Or is it just the same? I MUST KNOW! Cheers to having a great travel companion. I hope you’re having a great time!
Jess, I’m sorry to keep you in suspense, but it turned out the grocery store closes early on Saturday, which is when we were at the Vatican. So we didn’t get to go. I still want to know too!!! (I wrote this before the trip and decided to post it on our anniversary.)
That said, I bet you and I could travel together. Girls’ trip!
Phillip is a keeper for sure.
I’ve been enjoying your pix and videos on Instagram. Thanks for letting me visit Italy vicariously through you and Phillip!
He is! And I’m glad I can share the trip experience with you too! :)
Ah! That’s lovely. If one gets an always cheerful and ready to go travelling partner, then it is a bliss indeed! Only one with bad experiences and one who have faced difficulties because of the difference in opinion with their travelling partner can understand this!
Very true!
You absolutely have the right travel companion! If you’re going to Rome – do consider doing one of the Food tours. We loved the first one in Testaccio so much, we did another one a week later in Trastevere. I wrote about them both on my lemonslimoncello blog, and highly recommend them. – https://lemonslimoncello.wordpress.com/2013/07/21/tasting-testaccio/ https://lemonslimoncello.wordpress.com/2013/08/08/food-school-the-graduate-programme/
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll have to keep them in mind for next time!
